Revision of GB 38031-2020: Safety Requirements for Power Batteries for Electric Vehicles
21. March 2024Electromobility is considered a forward-looking trend in China, with the importance of electric vehicles set to increase in the coming years. In this context, traction batteries are becoming particularly important. In addition to the provisions on battery traceability and recycling, which are relevant for the registration of battery systems in China, safety regulations are of paramount importance.
According to the Standard Plan No. 20231690-Q-339 of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the National Technical Committee for Automobile Standardization, Electric Vehicles Department, the GB Standard GB 38031-2020 safety requirements for power batteries for electric vehicles, has been revised.
Implementation of the revised standard is expected to be in 2025.
The Chinese regulatory landscape is subject to constant development and change. When implementing new standards, entrepreneurs must ensure that their products continue to comply with the new regulations.
