Launch of Electric Car Energy Efficiency Classification Certification in China
19. September 2024The alliance plans to introduce a certification program for the classification of the energy efficiency of cars in China. The draft document “Test and Evaluation Procedure for Classifying the Energy Efficiency of Cars in China, Part 1: Battery Electric Vehicles” has now been published and released for public comment. Products and components from the automotive sector generally require CCC certification in order to be approved for import and distribution in China.
The assessment focuses on key issues that are important to consumers and takes into account the technological development of the industry as well as the country’s policy requirements. Based on a multidimensional assessment of vehicles and key systems, as well as in comparison to international energy efficiency labels, an objective assessment of energy efficiency levels in China is made. Through scientifically sound test methods, the process enables consumers to easily identify the energy efficiency of vehicles and at the same time promotes green consumption. In addition, it supports car manufacturers in optimizing energy efficiency and drives the green and low-carbon development of the automotive industry as well as technical progress. The certification for the classification of the energy efficiency of Chinese cars includes a “product certificate” and a “label for the classification of the energy efficiency of cars”.
