CEL for Motors
23. November 2022CEL for Motors
Since the 1st September 2012, specific low-voltage motors (small- and medium-sized three-phase asynchronous motors) must be labeled with CEL, which is in accordance with the corresponding GB standard (GB stands for Guobiao, the Chinese word for “national standard”). In the future, only low-voltage motors with a power range between 0.75 kW and 375 kW and a CEL efficiency of Class 2 (high efficiency) will be allowed for sale or use in China.
The Chinese government also plans to establish compulsory CEL certification for other types of motors with a power range from 7.5 kW to 375 kW, and eventually for the power range of 0.75 kW to 375 kW, with the aim of further lowering the consumption of energy and carbon dioxide emissions in the country. In addition to CEL several motor types also need the CCC certification. You may also have a basic view of GB standards here.
