GACC introduces new Registration System for Imported Food

September 2024On August 13, 2024, the China General Administration of Customs (GACC) announced the introduction of a new registration system for imported food products with Announcement No. 105 [2024] to improve the registration process. In most cases, food products require GACC registration in order to be approved for import and distribution in China.
Exporters, agents and importers of food products can submit their applications through the official GACC platform. After registration, foreign exporters and agents receive an 18-digit uniform code, while importers use their uniform social credit code for customs clearance. Companies that are already registered will automatically receive the new code, as old registration numbers will become invalid. The announcement will take effect on September 5, 2024.
