CNCA announces Updated Mandatory Product Certification Rules for 2024
8. August 2024The China National Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) has released updated implementation rules for mandatory product certification. According to the General Administration of Market Supervision’s announcement on managing mandatory product certification for commercial gas-burning appliances and other products (Announcement No. 9 of 2024), the mandatory product certification directory and implementation program have been adjusted. The revised implementation rules cover various categories, including low-voltage appliances and components, motorcycle and electric bicycle helmets, and explosion-proof electrical equipment. These updates will take effect on May 1, 2024, for some categories, and July 1, 2024, for others, replacing the old versions of the rules simultaneously. Low-voltage components, motorcycle and electric bicycle helmets, and other products usually require CCC certification in order to be approved for import and sale in China.
Certification bodies must develop corresponding certification and implementation rules based on the revised version and the general implementation rules for mandatory product certification, and submit these to the national commission for the record before the new rules are enforced. Existing certificates issued under the old rules will remain valid and can transition naturally upon expiration, product changes, or standard updates.
