China implements New GB/T 4706.1—2024 and GB 4343.1-2024 Standards for Household Equipment
13. February 2025China has introduced a new national safety standard, GB/T 4706.1—2024, for household and similar-use electrical appliances. Released on July 24, 2024, this GB standard will replace the previous version starting August 1, 2026. The TC04 technical committee has analyzed differences between the new and old standards and has adopted technical decisions regarding testing requirements for the transition. Household and similar-use equipment generally require CCC certification to be approved for import and sale in China.

Key requirements of the new standard include:
- Revised certification standards for household appliances.
- Certification bodies must implement the new standard according to existing regulations.
- Motor compressors (Code 0704) must comply with self-declaration procedures within the set deadlines.
Additionally, China has updated its electromagnetic compatibility standard for household appliances, power tools, and similar devices. The new GB 4343.1-2024 standard, released on May 28, 2024, will take effect on June 1, 2026, replacing the previous GB 4343.1-2018 standard. The TC10 expert group has reviewed the differences between the two standards and compiled a document outlining the main changes and additional testing requirements to ensure proper implementation.
