Adjustment of the CQC Product Catalog for Electronic Products

As part of a comprehensive adjustment of the CCC test catalog, the China Quality Certification Center (CQC) announced an update of specific Implementation Rules on September 30, 2022. Target of the adjustment were electronic products and their accessories, and in particular their safety certification and electromagnetic compatibility requirements. The new Implementation Rules CQC12-045800-2022 came into effect immediately upon the announcement.
 

 
The update most importantly included a re-classification of certain tests for electronic products and their accessories of the category 001121 into the voluntary certification range. Previously, these product tests had been subject to mandatory CCC certification requirements in China.
Above-mentioned changes affect the general electromagnetic compatibility requirements for A/V and ICT equipment under GB 4943.1-2022, including cordless phones under GB/T 19483-2016, and emission limits under GB 17625.1-2012 and GB/T 9254.1-2021. In contrast, numerous products in the audio, video, information, and communications technology sector are still subject to CCC certification (China Compulsory Certification) in China.
The Chinese GB Standards and Implementation Rules are regularly updated by the authorities, often having considerable implications for the product manufacturers. Updates are usually not announced and must be independently tracked and implemented by certified factories. Failure to do so may result in severe consequences, including withdrawal of certification for non-compliance.
